Blue Ridge Moving founder Tyler Lucy on why he built a second moving company in Columbus, and what he's trying to prove in Ohio.
I've spent the last few years listening to customers tell me about the mover who ruined their week. The lowballed quote that doubled on move day. The crew that showed up four hours late. The broken lamp nobody would take responsibility for. I heard it enough times that I stopped writing it off as bad luck and started asking a harder question: why is this the standard, and what would it take to build something different? Silver Bullets Moving is my second attempt at answering that question. Here's how it started.

Before Silver Bullets, there was Blue Ridge.
I started Blue Ridge Moving in 2021 in Lynchburg, Virginia. One truck, one crew, one rule I refused to break: handle every move like it's my own. Four years later, that one truck has grown into one of Virginia's top-rated moving companies, with over 1,500 moves under our belt and back-to-back "Best of Lynchburg" awards in 2025 and 2026.
The bar for moving companies isn't high. Clearing it consistently is what turns a truck into a business. And running Blue Ridge taught me that the customers who called us weren't looking for something extraordinary. They were looking for someone who'd do the basics right. Show up. Quote honestly. Don't break the china cabinet. Most of them told us they'd hired movers before and hadn't gotten even that.
I could have stayed in Virginia. Blue Ridge is doing well, the crew is dialed in, and there's room to grow in the Blue Ridge region for years to come.
But Columbus kept coming up. It's one of the fastest-growing metros in the country, with Silicon Heartland investments, Ohio State's expanding footprint, and Intel and Honda drawing families in from all over. Every conversation I had with people who'd moved to Columbus recently ended the same way: with a story about a bad mover. The market was booming. The moving companies serving it hadn't changed in a decade. Same inflated quotes. Same missed windows. Same crews that didn't care.
That was the opening. So I took the Blue Ridge playbook, including the operational systems, the crew training, the pricing discipline, and the customer promises, and brought it to Ohio. Silver Bullets Moving opened in Columbus with the same rule Blue Ridge started on: handle every move like it's your own.
I know what most people expect from a moving company, because I've spent years talking to customers who got burned by one. That's why every move Silver Bullets runs is built on three promises that never change:
We show up on time. Not "in a window." Not "sometime that morning." At the time we said we'd be there.
We quote honestly. One number. In writing. Before we lift a single box. The number we send is the number you pay, with no bait pricing, no "heavy item" surcharges added at the truck, and no surprises on move day.
We treat every home like it's ours. Because it is, for the day we're in it. Floors get protected. Doorways get padded. Boxes get labeled by room. Nothing gets thrown, dropped, or handled the way you'd handle furniture you're throwing out.
Those three promises aren't marketing. They're the operating system. Every crew is trained on them. Every quote is built around them. And every customer we move gets to hold us to them.
The name is a nod to two things.
The first: "silver bullet" is what people call the solution to a problem everyone else says is unsolvable. Movers who actually show up on time. Movers who quote honestly. Movers who don't make you dread move day. That's supposed to be impossible. I built this company on the idea that it isn't.
The second: for anyone in Central Ohio, "Silver Bullets" also means something specific. Ohio State's defense. Buckeye tradition. Excellence expected, not hoped for. That wasn't an accident. If you're going to build a moving company in Columbus, you should hold yourself to Columbus standards, and the Silver Bullets standard is the highest one there is.
We're just getting started. Right now, Silver Bullets serves Columbus and every corner of Ohio with residential, commercial, long-distance in-state, and specialty moves for the items nobody else will touch. Every job we run is a chance to prove the three promises again. Every customer we move is one more voice I hope will tell someone else.
If you're planning a move in Ohio, I'd love for us to be the crew you call. And if you've been burned by a mover before, I'd especially love the chance to change your mind.

Every mover promises to show up. I built two companies to prove that promise can actually hold.
